L'Agri Musée - Agriculture Museum
Description
This museum proposes a scene journey with varied old pictures, the agricuktural life, the tobacco of the Semois, the slate mines, forest... and also an important collection of old agricultural material (duration: 1 hour 20). The machines of the museum are lively and the visit is to be done with a tape-guide
- On an overlooking height of the Semois river.
In 1982, the Boreux family organized a "Harvest feast" in Rochehaut. During a decade, the feast is going to gain in importance, well helped by the talents of the old agricultural machinery during all the year and the work about ten volunteers the day is coming. When the feast stopped to exist. Jean Boreux and his sons continue to look for old material in the farms deserving of to be restored or shown.
Without hesitating to travel through around hundred kilometers radius, they built up such a nice collection which they don't hesitate to come up when the opportunity arises. In 2001, Michel decided to gather all the collection in the building joined to the family farm named "Agri-Musée".
The goal of this future interpretive center farm is so to use the current resources for the purpose of restoring them from a historica, cultural and social standpoints, in order to increase their interest from the general public, in permanent way.
In integrating the collection of farm machines from 1800 to 1950 wothin the whole constituted by a farm in post and a safari park. The interpretive center claims a discovery place of farm life in the Semois valley from 18000 to the present day, consisting of tobacco making presentation.
